Your privacy is very important to me, and you can be confident that your personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purpose it was given to me. I adhere to current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (the GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. This privacy notice tells you what I will do with your personal information from initial point of contact through to after your therapy has ended.
Your personal data:
When you make initial contact I will collect your name, email address and telephone number. Once our first session is completed, I will then retain a scanned copy of your initial assessment, contract, and information processing document.
Your Christian name and telephone will be held on my work mobile phone; your email address and any communication are stored within my iCloud email account, both of which are password protected. All scanned documentation will be retained within my secure iCloud personal vault which is password protected and includes a two-step verification process.
Any further information you provide during our sessions will be included within your personal folder, which is held within the secure iCloud personal vault. Your personal details and any additional information are kept separately within different folders in the secure vault.
During our sessions everything discussed is confidential, the only time confidentiality will be broken is if you disclose potential risk of harm to you or anyone else; if there is any risk of harm to a child or children, or you disclose information in relation to drug trafficking, money laundering or terrorism. You will be provided will a copy of the confidentiality agreement during our first session.
I will always try to speak with you about breaking confidentiality first, unless there is a safeguarding issue that prevents this from happening.
When someone visits my website, I use a third-party service, Wix.com to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. I do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone. I do not make, and do not allow Wix.com to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting my website. I use legitimate interests as my lawful basis for holding and using your personal information in this way when you visit my website. If you fill in a form on my website, that data will be temporarily stored on the web host before being sent to me.
How long will I keep your information:
Once counselling has ended, your records will be kept for seven years, or seven years from a young person’s eighteenth birthday. During this time records will continue to be stored electronically and destroyed appropriately when seven years is reached.
You have the right to ask me to delete your personal information, to limit how I use your personal information, or to stop processing your personal information. You also have a right to ask for a copy of any information that I hold about you. You can read more about your rights at ico.org.uk.
In the event of my sudden death, I have a clinical will which states any personal information held by me will be destroyed by my clinical supervisor.
